Sally Sue Gates

Franklin, NC - Sally Sue Gates, 86, of Franklin, NC passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 in a local hospital. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Moffitt Wallace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Gates.

She was a telephone operator with Michigan Bell Telephone Company and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America; she liked to cook and liked canning, gardening and sewing. She also liked springtime when dogwoods are in bloom and watching birds.

Mrs. Gates is survived by one son, John Gregory, Jr. of Franklin; one sister, Alice Crisp of Arcata, CA; one brother, Charles Wallace of Franklin; special friend, Nicholas Bohm of Franklin, granddaughter, Stephanie Jo Nolen and three grandcats. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Buck Wallace, Howard Wallace and Clifford Wallace.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 9 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Mike McConnell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
