Sara (Wagner) Mayer

Sara Wagner Mayer, 98, passed away March 27th, 2025. Mrs. Mayer was born February 4th, 1927, to the late Michael and Katherine Wagner.

Though born in Romania, Sara moved to Germany after having escaped the Siberian War. She saved the lives of four girls by taking them with her to Austria and then Germany traveling first by train and then finishing their journey on foot. Mrs. Mayer lived in Germany for some time before visiting her daughter in Franklin, NC and deciding to stay. Sara worked as a seamstress.

Sara is survived by her daughter Hannah Wagner, and a grandson, Antony James Kern.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mayer was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Mayer.
