You could always find Shane on a warm sunny day out on the water fishing. He enjoyed the thrill of deep-sea fishing and also enjoyed the peaceful solitude of fishing on the riverside. He had a talent of fixing anything. He was quirky and comedic. He had a way of filling up any room he was in with laughter. He had a way of making you belly laugh until your eyes filled up with happy tears and you had to catch your breath from laughing so hard. He had many artistic abilities that he loved to share with his family. He enjoyed coming up with new recipes and couldn’t wait to make them. He was a teacher of all things, an uplifting word, a shoulder to cry on, and a devoted follower of Christ. He was a light and a beacon of hope in a world that was unkind.
To know Shane was to love Shane. He had the kindest heart and the most gentle spirit. He was a father, a son, a brother, and a friend. He could never say no to anyone in need of a helping hand, and he was determined to change the world around him into a place of love and forgiveness. He had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone he encountered, a gift that most of us could only wish to possess. He discipled to those around him and showed an unfailing love to each person that crossed his path. He had a true heart of gold. He will be treasured by each and every person lucky enough to know him and to love him. We can find peace in knowing that he grabbed the hand of Jesus on Thursday, February 13th and they walked through those gates together. He looked back at us and smiled as he entered the kingdom. I know he is sitting on a riverbank, a fishing pole in hand with Jesus right beside him, awaiting the day we will come and sit next to them.
John 16:22 “So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.”
John 10:27- 29 “ My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, for my father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.”
