Thelma was the 5th of 9 children born to Henry H. and Hattie Cooper Tyler in Hillsborough County, where she began school at Plant City, FL. The family moved to Ocala, FL to farm. Thelma began cooking for the family at the age of 8, attended the Baptist church there, worked her first job as a child picking strawberries. She was baptized in Lake Thonotosassa in Tampa, and loved being the catcher on the girls softball team with her sister as pitcher. She married Johnny at the age of 17 and after WWII they settled in Deerfield Beach, FL.
Thelma always had a very busy life raising 4 children, teaching for years at Sunday School, running all the family businesses from her home office. Her greatest gift was in hospitality, having dinner parties for her friends and family or making food to take to others. She had a great sense of humor and a gorgeous smile, and loved and cared for family, always putting others first. She has had a home in Highlands for 43 years, was married to Johnny for 73 years and was a member of First Baptist Highlands for 43 years. She will be especially remembered for being a great friend, loving her family, taking great care of everyone around her, and her fabulous homemade dishes.
Thelma was preceded in death by her first born son, Herbert John Glattli from Deerfield Beach, Florida and her husband, Johnny Glattli, who died 12 days before her. She is survived by her son, William Glattli and his wife, Sandy, of Boynton Beach, Florida; her daughter Pam Powell and her husband, Joe, of Highlands; her daughter Becky Simmons and her husband, Joe, of Highlands; 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a very large extended family who thought of Thelma as their Mom.
