Theodore Wilbur Hawes, Jr.

Theodore W. Hawes, Jr., 92, of Franklin passed away January 20, 2017. He was born in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Theodore and Helen Richardson Hawes. He was married to Grace Drake Hawes who preceded him in death.

Mr. Hawes worked for the Grand Union Company. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, serving from June, 1943 until August, 1955 and he received a Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic‑Pacific Campaign Medal, and Victory Service Medal. He was a member of St. Agnes Episcopal Church.

He is survived by a son, Theodore "Todd" Hawes, III of Winston Salem and grandchildren, Jessica Gerba, Wayne Gerba, Jennifer Gerba and Shelly Gerba all of Franklin. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Hawes Gerba.

A private graveside service will be held.
