Franklin, NC - Thomas Harley Potts, 82, of Franklin, NC passed away Monday, September 30, 2013. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late William Floyd Potts and Annie Ella Queen Potts. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Michigan, and served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved woodworking and repairing cars. Mr. Potts was a member of Windy Gap Baptist Church which he had attended for many years.
He is survived by Glenda Clouse Potts, wife of 59 years; two sons, Keith Potts and wife Cindy of Hartland, MI and Kevin Potts and wife Mary of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Jason Potts, Angela Samko, Richard Cook; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Windy Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Bishop and Rev. David Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Franklin VFW Post #7339 and American Legion Post #108 will perform military graveside rites. Pallbearers will be Clint Barnett, Ken Bishop, Jim Bryson, John Davis, Cecil Deis, Merritt Fouts, Paul Heist, Bill Hughes, Wayne Ledford, Otis Welch and the Deacons of Windy Gap Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 8:00 pm at Bryant Grant Funeral Home.
