Thurman Franklin Rogers

Franklin, NC - Thurman Franklin Rogers, age 87, of Candler, NC, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 at John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville, NC. He was a native of Rabun County, GA, the son of the late William T. and Ora Rhodes Rogers. He was married to the late Betty Howell Rogers, who passed away in 2008. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a loving father and grandfather and avid hunter and gardener.

He is survived by three daughters, Helen Taylor and husband Roy, Shirley Buckner and Kathy Mashburn and husband Mike all of Candler, NC; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Thurman Rogers, four sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 19th at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Mashburn and Dr. Keith Hutchinson officiating. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
