Tracey Dawn Shumway

Tracey Dawn Shumway, 64, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021, in the presence of her loving husband Robert. She fought a courageous battle of cancer until the end. Tracey was born November 5, 1957, in Blairstown, New Jersey to the late Richard E. Shumway and Darlene Brandon Shumway. She graduated from Olham County High School and attended the University of Ohio where she received her bachelor’s degree. Tracey completed her master’s degree in teaching at Western Carolina University. In Chicago she won the esteemed Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching. Tracey loved spending time with her husband and her precious dog, Gator. She was an avid dog lover. She was a mover and a shaker and stood up for her beliefs in an articulate and compassionate manner. She was a kind friend and neighbor with a gentle spirit and will be deeply missed.

Tracey is survived by her husband, Robert Woods; her dog Gator; a son, Marcus Savina; three brothers, Randy Shumway (Amy Lou), Gregory Shumway (Amy Jo) and Anthony Shumway (Aleta); nieces and nephews, Kayla, Ian, Holly, Nichole, Erica, Rick, Vanessa, Peyton and Macy. In addition to her parents, Tracey is preceded in death by her sister, Michelle Swanson.
