Troy Brian Russell

Troy Brian Russell 59 passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2025. Troy was born February 12, 1966, in Orlando, FL.

Troy was a lifelong resident of Macon County before moving to Charlotte NC to pursue a career in telecommunication & IT work at University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Troy was an avid outdoors man. He enjoyed camping, cooking at the campsite, riding 4-wheelers, and chilling out to Gov’t Mule.

In the summers local concerts were a favorite along with riding jet skis on Lake Norman and Lake Fontana with family & friends.

Troy was known for his big heart, and he loved his dogs. His motto was for him to be as good as his dogs thought he was.

Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents George & Mary Shope. He is survived by his estranged mother, Sandra Shope, uncle, Pete Shope and wife Debbi Shope, aunt, Pat Wycoff and uncle Ed Wycoff, cousins, Zachary Shope, Byron Wycoff, Wynne Wycoff, and his lifelong best friend (brother) Mark Wells.

A celebration of life to be scheduled at a later date.
