Franklin, NC - Troy Arvil Welch, age 77, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at a local nursing home. He was born in Macon County, the son of the late Floyd Arvil and Emma Birdell McGaha Welch. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Troy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He liked antiques, and had worked all over the world in tunnels. He was a survivor.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Myra Childers Welch; one daughter, Debra Childers Dean and her husband Jason of Franklin, NC; step daughter, Pamela Ibaugh and her husband, Bill of Franklin, NC; two step sons, Jimmy Barden and his wife Darlene of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Alan Sutton and his wife Linda of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Arbutus McCoy and Patricia Morgan and her husband, Jack all of Franklin, NC; one brother, Willard Douglas Welch and his wife Beatrice of Clayton, GA; six grandchildren, Samantha, Daylon, April, Cody, Jimmy and Paul. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Dale Welch, Charles Edward Welch and James Kenneth Welch and granddaughter, Chrissy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Reid officiating. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Welch, Randy McCoy, Joseph McCoy, Stephen Wyatt, Bill Ibaugh, and Josh Martin. Jason Morgan will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends from 1:00 2:00 PM, one hour prior to service.
