Vernon Douglas Brown, 91, of Highlands, NC passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Born in Mobile, AL, he was the son of the late Peter James and Mamie Carrie Lott Brown. He was a convenience store manager and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of Highlands First Baptist Church where he was sang in the choir. Mr. Brown is survived by one niece, Marsha Brown Herbert of Leander, TX and two nephews, George Maurice Brown, Jr. of Helena, MT and William Timothy Brown of Fate, TX. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highlands First Baptist Church, PO Box 625, Highlands, NC 28741.
