Vincent "Barry" Barrett Jones

Vincent Barrett (Barry) Jones of Highlands, NC, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at age 83.

Barry was born in Jackson, GA to the late Vincent S. and Sue Pope Jones.  In his youth he was most proud to be a member of his local Boy Scout Troup and achieved the ranking of Eagle Scout before going on to Emory at Oxford Prep School, then graduated from Emory University in Atlanta.

His career included advertising and film making for PBS. A documentary on Grandfather Mountain brought him to the GA/NC mountains.  He moved on to Tiger, GA then Highlands, NC.

Left to cherish Barry's memory is his devoted wife, Paula Jones.  Barry and Paula started a rustic woodworking business, Tiger Mountain Woodworks in 1989, then The Summer House a home furnishing center in Highlands. Barry is also survived by brother Alan Jones of Jackson, GA, stepson, James Christian (Mary); three grandchildren and stepdaughter, Michelle Hardy (Chris) and Barry’s loving puppy, Oliver.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring at Barry and Paula's home, Frog Pond Farm in Highlands-date to be announced.

Memorials may be made to the Highlands Land Trust, Highlands Community Child Development Center, The Bascom Fine Arts Center, Highlands, NC.
