Franklin, NC - Virginia "Gin" Bryant McClure, age 96, of Franklin passed away January 26, 2015. A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Nannie Wilkes Bryant. She was a nurse for Dr. Furman Angel and a homemaker.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Due to her declining health Virginia was unable to attend Olive Hill Gospel Chapel, but not a day went by that she didn't read her Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde McClure and son Sidney Starnes, Sr. In addition to her parents, husband and son she was preceded in death by four sisters, Geneva Rowland, Ola Rowland, Lola Roper, Lois Roper and two brothers, Ezell and Lee Bryant.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Sheila Welch and husband Doug, Sidney Starnes, Jr., Ricky Starnes and Meghan, Jeffrey Starnes and wife Gina, six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a sister, Emma Jean Swafford, a number of nieces and nephews, and Joann Fouts, mother of her grandchildren and caregiver for nine years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 30, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Swafford and Rev. Mike Raby officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Williamson, Sandy Swafford, Randall Fouts, Brandon Welch, Devin Starnes and Sidney Andrew Starnes. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at Bryant Grant Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
