Wayne Avery Pendergrass

Franklin, NC - Wayne Avery Pendergrass, age 85, of Franklin, NC passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at a local hospital. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late James Napoleon and Cora Hopper Pendergrass. He was married to Katherine Conley Pendergrass who passed away March 16, 2007. He was retired from the post office after 25 years of service, and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a US Navy Veteran. He loved watching baseball. St. Louis Cardinals was his favorite team.

He is survived by two sons, Michael Alan Pendergrass and his wife, Connie of Franklin, NC and Donald Wayne Pendergrass and his wife, Judy of Franklin, NC; four grandchildren, Dustin Pendergrass, Travis Pendergrass and wife Michelle, Brett Pendergrass, and Amanda Bateman. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22nd at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Newell officiating. Burial will be in Carson Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Houston, Ross Shields, Hank Southard, Bruce Conley, Mark Reynolds. and Caleb Tallent. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00pm, Friday, one hour prior to the service at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
