Franklin, NC - Wiley Alexander Bryson, age 93, of Maples Park Drive, Franklin, NC passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at a local hospital. He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late Sam and Olive Pierson Bryson. He was married to Helen Rowland Bryson who passed away December 6, 1996. He owned and operated restaurants where he served as a cook. He loved fishing, gardening and working in his flower garden.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Sykes and her husband, G.P. of Atlanta, GA and his son, Bruce Bryson and his wife Sue of Franklin, NC; one sister, Otela Bryson of Asheville, NC; four grandchildren, Sheri Dockery, Barry Bryson, Marna Peck, and Marcie Carpenter. Seventeen great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson and four brothers, Sammie, Vernon, Alton, and Mack Bryson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 14 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Reeves officiating. Burial will be held at Salem Cemetery. Tommy Peck, Kyle Peck, Benjamin Bryson, Barry Bryson, Gabe Bryson and Josh Dockery will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 14 from 1:30-3:00PM at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
