Willard Clinton Houston

Highlands, NC - Willard Clinton Houston, age 68 of Highlands, NC, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at his residence. He was a native of Macon Co., the son of the late Gordon Garfield Houston and Dovie Southards Houston. He was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church. He was retired from GTE Telephone Co. with 25 years service, where he worked as a cable splicer. He was a loving husband, Dad and Papaw. He loved to hunt, fish, and enjoyed spending time outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Talley Houston; one daughter, Linda Henry and husband Terry of Highlands, NC; one son, Steve Houston of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Dorothy Criswell of Groves, TX; three grandchildren, Adam Henry and fiancee Amber Manley, Luke Houston, and Jessica Houston.

He was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home in Highlands, with Rev. Matt Shuler officiating. Burial will be in Buck Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glandon Vaughn, John Holland, Stacy Houston, Dick Bullis, Algie Bolick, and Michael Houston.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 pm, Sunday in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home in Highlands
