William Garrett Davis, Sr

Franklin, NC- William Garrett Davis, Sr, age 83, of West Old Murphy Rd., Franklin, NC passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Angel Medical Center. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Nathaniel Garrett and Cecily Dills Davis. He was married to Katherine Dayton Davis for sixty- four years. He was retired Supervisor of Transportation for Macon County Board of Education for thirty- three years. Garrett was a member of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; he loved to camp, hunt and fish.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Jearlene Talley and husband Cliff of Highlands, NC; one son, Gary Davis and wife Pat of Franklin, NC: one sister, Virginia Woodall of Forest City, NC and two grandchildren, Nicole Bloedow and husband Steven of Seneca, SC and Will Davis of Franklin, NC. Two great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Josh Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Will Davis, Scott McDowell, Michael McDowell, David Anderson, Charlie Dowdle and Raymond Dills. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Cartoogechaye Baptist Church Youth, 465 W. Old Murphy Rd., Franklin, NC 28734.
