William "Bill" Grover Jamison, Iii

Willliam "Bill" Grover Jamison, III, 78, passed away March 10, 2025.  He was born January 18, 1947, in Jackson County, NC to William Grover Jamison, Jr and Grace Baird Jamison.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Martha Sam Jamison.   Mr. Jamison graduated from Franklin High School in 1965 and served with the US Navy from 1967 - 1971 as an Air Traffic Controller.  He was married August 6, 1971.  Mr. Jamison attended WCU for undergraduate and graduate degrees.  He worked in the Macon County School System as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal until his retirement in 2003. He served on the Franklin Fire and Rescue from 1973 -1997 and was chief from 1990 - 1997, he also served on the Franklin Town Council as an Alderman.  He traveled extensively throughout the US visiting the National Parks and enjoyed many years in South Carolina at his Lake House; he loved fishing and hunting throughout the Carolinas and Georgia; he also loved cooking.

He is survived by his brother, Farrell D. Jamison; sister, Robin Jamison Shope and her husband, Phil; nieces, Shannon A. Shuler (Eugene) and Ashley Crawford (Ollie); nephew, Jamie Shope (Casey); and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life Service will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Franklin First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Janet Greene, Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Dana McKim officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 till 3:00 pm prior to the service at the Church.

A graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
