Franklin, NC - William "Bill" Hamilton Waldroop, age 80 of Franklin, NC passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014. He was born in Macon County, the son of the late Julian Waldroop and Elizabeth Anderson Waldroop Hauser. He was a US Navy Veteran, a retired magistrate, and formerly owned and operated the North End Chevron.
Mr. Waldroop was a member of First United Methodist Church of Franklin, a member of the Magistrates' Association, on the board of directors for Carson Cemetery, and was active in the Democrat Party and Boy Scouts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step father, Jim Hauser, and a granddaughter, Sara McKenzie King.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sara Reagan Waldroop, three daughters, Mollie Cohen and husband David of Concord, NC, Mary King and husband Jeffry of Sumerville, AL and Jane Beck and husband Monty of Franklin, NC; a sister, Julia Duvall of Franklin, NC a brother, Jim Waldroop of Franklin, NC; grandchildren, Meggin Booe and husband Kenny, Lauren Harrell and husband Evan, Taylor King and wife Jennifer, Hunter King, Britany Beck and Lindy Beck; great grandchildren, Bryson Booe, Kenley Booe, Elin Harrell, Charlie Beck and Spencer King.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 3:30 pm at First United Methodist Church of Franklin, with Rev. David Beam officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Naval military rites will be performed. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, two hours prior to the service, at the Church.
