William Joseph Holten, Sr., 90, of Franklin, NC, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026. He was born February 21, 1936, in East St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Anthony H. Holten and Virginia Lee nee Cranna Holten.
Mr. Holten was a US Army Veteran and had worked as manager of St. Joe Container in Florida. He loved visiting the State of Montana and was known as "Mr. Montana"; he loved photography especially taking pictures of grizzly bears, he also loved visiting his friends in Port St. Joe, FL. Mr. Holten was a jack of all trades, artist, painter, woodworker and builder. He had a magnetic personality and was someone who was loved by all.
He is survived by his daughter, Catherine Holten-Snider (Ryan); a son, William "Bill" Holten, Jr. two brothers and two sisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Glenna Holten; a daughter, Paula Holten and a granddaughter, Suzanna Holten.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
