Otto, NC - William "Bill" Orval Winkle, 87, of Otto, NC passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 in Charles George VA Medical Center. Born in Wallace, ID, he was the son of the late Christopher and Dolly Moore Winkle. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Winkle, who died in 1985. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Brenda Kirkland Winkle. He was a World War II Coast Guard Veteran and was employed in the advertising field. He was a member of Estatoah Wayfarers Chapel where he participated in the music ministry by singing a solo every Sunday.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Christine Brown and husband David of Grangeville, ID; Brenda's children who were very special to him, Kristi Matheson and husband Tim and Keith Crosby and wife Shannon all of Clayton, GA; a step sister, Gail Masters of Belmont, CA; a half brother, Allen Winkle of Boise, ID; several nieces and nephews; two very special nephews, Mike Winkle of Portland, Oregon and Rob Winkle of Des Moines, WA; six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at Estatoah Wayfarers Chapel in Dillard, GA with Rev. Ron Lindahn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Macon County Humane Society, PO Box 81, Franklin, NC 28744.
