Rev. William "Bill" Wooten, age 87, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016. He was born in Macon County, the son of the late Roy Benjamin Wooten and Myrtle Sorrells Wooten. He was a brick mason and a minister for 60 years. He loved to rabbit hunt, fish, play golf and restore old cars. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Mr. Wooten is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Lequire Wooten; two daughters, Shirley Pressley (Ray) of Cullowhee and Aileen Holland (Glenn) of Franklin; one son, Larry Wooten (Heather) of Georgia; four grandchildren, Darren Pressley (Janie), Brandon Pressley (Chelsea), Rodney Holland (Jennifer) and Natasha Wooten; two step‑grandchildren, Brianna Stewart and Thomas Stewart; five great‑grandchildren, Mallory Pressley, Hunter Pressley, Sawyer Pressley, Finleigh Pressley and Jace Wooten; two sisters, Margie Lequire (Frank) of Franklin and Virginia "Jean" Sanders (Jack) of Franklin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Lequire and Mildred Saunders.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moore, Rev. Tommy Fouts and Rev. Eddie Stillwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darren Pressley, Brandon Pressley, Rodney Holland, Hunter Pressley, Chris Millican and Chad Millican. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Cullasaja Volunteer Fire Department along with Algie Bolick, John McCall and Mike Dills. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 ‑ 8:00 pm at Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home.
