Candler - Wilma Crawford McClure, 92, of Candler, went to be with her Lord and beloved husband on Saturday, November 6, 2010.

She is a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church and lived all of her adult live in Candler after growing up in Haywood and Macon counties. She devoted her life to her family, friends and church; playing a significant positive role in the lives of four generations. In addition she helped her community, delivering Meals on Wheels as long as her health allowed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herschel McClure; sister, Ruby McCracken; brother, Paul Crawford; and parents Homer and Lillian Crawford.

Surviving are her sons, Dale McClure and wife, Jeanne of Fairview Beach, Va., and Dean McClure and wife, Elisabeth, of West Asheville; sisters, Bernice Peebles, of Raleigh, and Norma Norton and husband, Perry, of Franklin; and brother, Carl Crawford and wife, Donna, of Salem, Ore. In addition, she is survived by eight grandchildren and their spouses, and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. David E. Peeler officiating. Her family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like you to know they appreciate all the people who made it possible for their mother to enjoy life at home as long as possible, and for the caring staff at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center, who caringly helped her through her last years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Snow Hill United Methodist Church Outreach Program, the Bear Closet, or to the church, 84 Snow Hill Church Rd., Candler, NC 28715.
