Franklin, NC - Woodrow Lee Cunningham, age 68, of Franklin, NC passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Ralph Woodrow and Maggie Louise Elliott Cunningham. He was married to Jane Cunningham who preceded him in death.
Mr. Cunningham was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather; he loved farming and working with his tractor and loved delivering food for Ms. Loiss Restaurant. He attended Windy Gap Baptist Church.
He is survived by three daughters, Sherry Raby and husband Joey, Lindy Cunningham, Teresa Wood and husband Bill all of Franklin; fiancee Syretta Cochran of Nantahala; five sisters, Chris Woodall, Louise Dills, Linda Bishop, Sharon Peek, and Wanda Rogers all of Franklin; three brothers, Buddy Cunningham, Wayne Cunningham, and Philip Tallent all of Franklin; six grandchildren, Clinton Mashburn, Whitney Raby, Jessie Tippett, Paige Bates, Avery Bates and Dalton Bates and three great-grandchildren, Kiley Mashburn, Ayden Bates and Addison Bates. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Blanton and a brother, Ray Tallent.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Windy Gap Baptist Church with Rev. David Williams and Rev. Mark Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Iotla Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clinton Mashburn, Dalton Bates, Ricky Dills, Boyce Cunningham, Randy Cunningham and Philip Tallent. Honorary pallbearers will be Scotty Bishop, Brandon Peek, Bobby Bishop, Doug Welch, Adam Tallent and Larry Conley.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 until 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the church. The body will remain at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home until being placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made directly to Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
