Zane Alexander Wood

Franklin, NC - Zane Alexander Wood, age 89, of Franklin, NC passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born in Jackson County, NC the son of the late Mont Wood and Dorothy Mae Extine Wood. He was a truck driver and a member of the Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Lois Mashburn Wood; three daughters, Devannah Long and her husband, Eddie and Wanda Ashe and her husband, Lewis of Franklin, NC and Dottie Nicholson and her husband, Charles of Sylva, NC;one son, Marshall Wood and his wife, Ina of Franklin, NC; his grandchildren, Lainie Dills, Gary McMahan, Tim McMahan, Tony Ashe, Allen Ashe, Margaret Duppstadt, Doug Wood and Misty Colton; great grandchildren Matthew Dills, Meagan Davis, Cassie McMahan, Robbie McMahan, Samatha Ashe, Isabella Ashe, Sarah Wallace, Maggie Wallace, Rachel Colton and Autumn Colton. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Edward Long; sister, Ida Mae Gibson and brothers, George Wood and Marcell Wood.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 22 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with the Rev. Bud Haire officiating. Burial will be at the Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim McMahan, Gary McMahan, Rod Colton, John Pippio, Tim Pippio, Brian Pippio, Tony Ashe, Jimmy Hall, Dave Duppstadt and Doug Wood.

The family will receive friends Monday, May 21 from 6:00-8:00PM at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
