Belva Marie Nichols Hodgin Edwards, 94, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023. She was born April 14, 1929, in Macon County to the late Fred and Effie Carpenter Nichols. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and loved taking care of people, she also loved to cook and garden. She was a member of Maiden's Chapel Methodist Church, where she was in charge of the cemetery and the cemetery fund. She was very active and involved with the church and the community.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Hodgin and Glen Edwards; two sons, Eugene Hodgins and Charles Martin Hodgins, Jr.; four sisters, Georgia Zachary, Eleanor Lewis, Rosa Lee Nichols and Birdie Nichols; two brothers, Fred Nichols, Jr. and Allen Nichols.
She is survived by sisters-in law, Ann Nichols and Betty Holland both of Franklin; four grandchildren, and one- great-grandchild; many beloved nieces and nephews and friends of the community.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023, at 11:00 am at Maiden's Chapel Methodist Church with Rev. Stephanie Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Gillespie Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 till 11:00 am at the church. Pallbearers will be Marty Southard, Tyler Cook, Steve Byrd, Chuck Stanley, Chuck Nichols, James Guffey, Chet Stanley, and Jack Hodgin. Honorary Pallbearer will be Jerry Hodgin.
