Betty Ann Banks Lapiere, 76, of Franklin passed away Thursday, October 3, 2019. Betty was born June 10, 1943 to the late Luther Banks and Letha Rochelle Banks in Onslow County, NC. Betty worked in the textile industry as a machine operator at Fruit of the Loom. Cooking, oysters, gardening and bowling was a love of Betty's and she enjoyed decorating her kitchen in Rooster theme. Mrs. Lapiere was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughters; Kathy Kelly (Chuck) of Otto, NC, Eugenio Rodriquez (Neisa) of Ft. Myers, FL, Renee Roberts of Jacksonville, NC; daughter in law Michelle Tordoff of Augusta, GA; two sisters, Linda Spencer of Franklin and Janice Decker of Jacksonville; two brothers, Jerry Banks of Dothan, AL and Jim Banks of Greensboro, NC. 14 grandchildren and 5 great‑grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lapiere is preceded in death by her husband, Reginald Lapiere; a son, Russell Tordoff; a brother, Bill Banks; a grandson Michael Velasco; and a great‑grandchild Riley Penniman.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
