Dorothy June Gee

Dorothy June Worrell Gee, born January 31, 1927 passed away on March 21, 2022.

June lived a beautiful family life with her husband of 63 years, Thomas Rudolph ‘Doc’ Gee, that she had know since the first grade.  Her husband adored her, and together they taught their only child, Karen, integrity, loyalty, compassion, and a deep and abiding love for God.

June was born in Lake Wales, Florida.  She was one of the first women accepted to the Univ. of Florida in Gainesville and earned an Associate’s Degree.  She worked as the Executive Assistance and bookkeeper for a bank president, and married Doc when he returned from WWII.  They were blessed to spend 63 happy years together, 26 years of which they were retired and living in the beautiful home they had built in Franklin, NC.

Despite the daunting years of the Great Depression, the loss of her father in high school, and World War II, she never failed to look forward to a better future and worked hard, along with Doc, to make that happen.  She was always an excellent wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She and Doc loved travel and took Karen to all of the domestic states and Canada.

June and her daughter were best friends.  Karen was the “blonde, curly haired little girl that she had prayed for”, and she shared that with people often.  She and Karen talked every day.  No one knew her better, and nothing brought June more joy than knowing her child, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were happy and safe.

To her daughter, she leaves perseverance and love. 

A service was held on March 26, at the Woodlawn Cemetery, in Franklin, NC.
