Emma Jean (Bryant) Swafford

Emma Jean Swafford, 92, of Franklin, NC, passed away January 29, 2024.  She was born September 6, 1931 in Macon County to the late Walter and Nannie Wilkes Bryant.

Emma was a lifelong resident of Macon County and of the Christian faith.  She took care of her boys and was a loving wife mother, and grandmother.  Emma was a homemaker, she loved vegetable gardening, being outside, flowers, cooking and having big dinners.  She liked gossiping on the phone and watching westerns.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Swafford, sons, Jimmy Swafford and Ronald Swafford and her siblings, Ola Rowland, Geneva Rowland, Lola Roper, Lois Roper, Virginia McClure, Lee Bryant and Ezell Bryant.

She is survived by her sons, Eddie Swafford and his fiancée, Alyasa , Louis Swafford (Angela), Ricky Swafford (Sis), Sandy Swafford, and daughter-in-law, Diane Swafford all of Franklin, NC; seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a special caretaker, Alicia Fuentes.

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Louis Swafford and Rev. Rick Swafford officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 till 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Tippett Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Swafford, Kevin Swafford, Caden Swafford, Dustin Swafford, Bill Glass and Andrew Armstrong. Honorary pallbearer will be Isaiah McLean.
