Ernest Horsley Brendle

Ernest Horsley Brendle, age 94, went to be with the Lord Sunday, March 3, 2024. He was born December 27, 1929 in Macon County, NC to Frank Miller Brendle and Nobia Belle Sanders, the third of six children.

He is survived by daughter, Pat Rowland of Franklin, NC; son, Ernie Brendle and wife Diane of Franklin, NC; also surviving grandchildren, Brice Rowland, and wife Jadee of Asheville, NC, Nicole Triantis and Husband Johnathan of Durham, NC, Andrea Rowland Mathis of Tampa, FL, Heather Brendle Stanley and husband Chet Stanley of Franklin, NC, Jeremy Brendle of Franklin, NC; six great-grandchildren, Eli Curtis, Trey Rowland, and Banks Rowland, Brenley Stanley, Casey Stanley, and Sylvie Stanley. He is also survived by two sisters; Betty Guest of Franklin, NC, and Doris Green of Easley, SC.

Ernest was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Evelyn Hyatt Brendle, as well as his parents Frank Brendle and Nobia Sanders, brother, James Robert Brendle, and sisters, Edna Mae Sanders, and Wanda Berry.

Ernest was a lifelong member and a deacon of Watauga Baptist Church. Ernest served in the United States Army with a final rank of Corporal. Ernest was a loving and caring husband, grandfather, and neighbor enjoying time with family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Watauga Baptist Church, 658 Watauga Church Road, Franklin NC on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, with visitation at 1:00 PM and the service following at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Wesley Price, Rev. Roy Lowe, and Rev. Thomas James officiating. The burial will be in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rodney Sanders, Doug Johnson, Chet Stanley, Dan Smith, Millard Sloan, Jeff Berry, and Roger Guest.
