Ethel (Kirkland) Walker

Ethel Kirkland Walker, age 95, of Franklin, NC, passed away January 19, 2021. Ethel was born April 11, 1925 in Swain County, NC to the late Fred and Lucinda Jenkins Kirkland.  Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith, she was a true country girl and lady.  She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed fishing, sewing, embroidering, working in the garden and watching things grow.  Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Ann Adams (Douglas) and Rosemary Grant; four sons, Lewis Walker (Trish), Jesse Walker, Frank Walker and Philip Walker; four sisters, Willa Mae Hovis, Louise Hurst,  Anna Lois Shepherd, and Dorothy Reddish; brother, Wiley L. Kirkland; ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Anna Belle Smith, Nancy Russell, Rosalee Russell and Cordelia Shears; brothers, Floyd Kirkland and Leroy Kirkland; a grandson, Steven Sherman; and former husband, Arvil Walker. Pallbearers are George Jenkins, David Jenkins, Gary Kirkland, Brandon Kirkland, Jeff Smith, Jason Mentor and Dillon Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Logan Smith, Bernie Russell, Elizabeth Russell Jones, Tommy Russell and Jeremiah Jones.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Russell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Ridgecrest Baptist Church Cemetery.
