Eugene Thannel Talley

Eugene Thannel Talley, 73, of Highlands, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2019.  He was born in Rabun Co., GA October 14, 1946 to the late Radford and Myrtle Bryson Talley.  Mr. Talley was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.  He was the last of original trustees of the Clear Creek Community Cemetery and was one of the original members of the Satolah Fire Dept. He owned and operated Talley Tree Service.  He loved deer hunting, being in the hayfield, and NASCAR auto racing.  He also loved hunting ginseng in the fall and hunting ramps in the spring. 

He is survived by his best friend, the man he called his son, Tommy James;  three daughters; a sister, Naomi Chastain of Highlands, NC and a brother, Novie Talley of Franklin, NC;  a sister‑in‑law, Glenda Talley of Clayton, GA; a number of grandchildren and great‑grandchildren.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Talley and Golie Talley.

A service will be held Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Clear Creek Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Kinard and Rev. Randy Lucas officiating.  Burial will be in the Clear Creek Community Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy James, Grant Zachary, Ricky Talley, Roger Lee Wilson, Edwin Wilson, Dennis Stamey, David Craine and Ricky Munger. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Sunday, one hour prior to the service at the Church.
