Fleetwood Chavis

Fleetwood Willis Chavis, 78, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at his home. Mr. Chavis was born September 25, 1938 in Macon County to the late Leander and Elizabeth S. Chavis.  Fleetwood retired after many years of service from Duke Power.  Playing golf and hunting were some of his hobbies he enjoyed.  He also proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1967.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Beatrice “Bea” Chavis of the home; two daughters, Crystal Chavis and Brittany Chavis both of Franklin; four sons, Timothy Chavis, Willis Chavis, Michael Chavis and Jeffery Chavis all of Franklin; twenty grandchildren and nine great - grandchildren.

Mr. Chavis was preceded in death by his parents; a great-granddaughter, Beatrice Zamora Chavis; two sisters and two brothers.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in the Bryant-Grant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brandon Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.  Following the burial the family will gather at the Jaycee Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening October 24, 2016 at the Bryant-Grant Funeral Home and Crematory.
