Helen Holbrook

Mrs. Helen Guffey Holbrook, 90, went home to be with the Lord, April 9, 2019.

Mrs. Holbrook was born September 17, 1928 in Jackson County to the late Charles and Eva Dillard Guffey. She was married to the late Paul Gibson Holbrook who preceded her on November 12, 1987.  Mrs. Helen was a member of the Women’s Community Bible Study. She was a faithful member of Cowee Baptist Church where she served as Nursery Director at the church for over 50 years.

Mrs. Holbrook was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved and cared for her family and many children in the church.

Survivors include her three daughters, Patricia Diane Holbrook of Franklin, NC, Sandra Holbrook Dorton and husband Steve of Concord, NC, and Debra Holbrook Dula of Fort Mill, SC; four grandchildren, Corey Lee Mason and wife Samantha, Grant Andrew Dorton and wife Miranda, Lyndsey Megan Dorton, and Sarah Aston Dula; and four-great-grandchildren, Adrien, Sawyer, Adalay, and Christian.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Cowee Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Smith, Rev. Ronnie Branson, and Mr. David Morgan officiating.  Pallbearers will be David Morgan, Jack Dillard Jr., Jim Holbrook, Danny Prince, Richard Lightner, and Mathew Holbrook.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p. m. prior to the service at the church.
