Howard Lee Parker

Howard Lee Parker, 98, of Grifton, NC, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023.  He was born February 6, 1925, in Clay County, NC to the late Paul and Sarah Ruth Moore Parker.  He was the oldest of ten children. 

Mr. Parker was a US Army Veteran serving in Europe during World War II from 1943 to 1945.  He was a member of Timothy Christian Church and was a 32nd Degree Mason; he retired from Dupont.  He worked all the time; he especially loved working outside, building and he loved riding his bike. He also loved doing things with his family and going on vacations. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Martha Helen Parker, who died in 2006; a sister, Lois Cowart and three brothers, Walter Parker, Eugene Parker, and, Tommy Parker.

He is survived by his son, Richard Parker (Deborah) of Grifton, NC; two grandchildren, Jodie P. Berry (John) and Casey Parker (Amber); five great-grandchildren, Conner Berry, Holden Berry, Chase Berry, Mason Parker and McCray Parker; sisters, Geretta Moore, Jewell Peek, Wynelle Phillips, and Elizabeth Vinson; a brother, Paul Parker, Jr.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11:00 am at Union Hill Cemetery in Hayesville, NC with Rev. Timothy Hogsed officiating.
