Jere W. Annis, III

                Jere W. Annis, III passed away peacefully on November 14, 2022 at the age of eighty-seven.  He was born in Rochester, Minnesota on October 17, 1935 and his parents were Dr. Jere W. Annis, II and Margaret Tinkham.   He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judith F. Annis, two daughters, Laura A. Gravely and Lisa Annis, three grandchildren, Claire Walters, Chris Gravely, Keil Gravely, and two great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Amelia.  He is also survived by one brother, Michael D. Annis and two sisters, Mary Hart and Kay Wilson and numerous nieces and nephews.

                Jere was a graduate of Duke University with a degree in mathematics.  He was a practical mathematician in marketing and his career evolved into working as a computer systems analyst until he retired.  He was an advocate for those with physical and intellectual disabilities for over fifty years.  He loved baseball and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan for over seventy years.

                The funeral service will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Cullowhee, NC on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00 am.  There will be no visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to St. David’s Episcopal Church, Industrial Opportunities of Andrews, NC (a program for those with intellectual disabilities), or Jackson Neighbors in Need.
