John Joseph Kusterer, 89, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
John was born November 13, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia to the late John and Elenor Tremor Kusterer.
John was a retired SGM US Army veteran serving tours of duty in Korea, Texas, Italy, New York, Germany, and New Mexico. John also served as a specialized missile Instructor in El Paso, Texas
and Buffalo, New York. He then went on to start the Army ROTC program at Clyde A Erwin High School in Asheville, North Carolina in 1978, where he retired 20 years later.
Left to keep his memories alive are his daughters Cynthia Holder and Husband, Rustin, of Beech Island, South Carolina and Kimberly Sitton and Husband, Terry, of Leicester, North Carolina; his
granddaughters Tiffany of Topeka, Kansas, Natalie of Winston Salem, North Carolina, and Ashley of Marion, North Carolina; and his greatgrandchildren Selah, Josiah, Isaiah, Adalynn,
Emberly, Teagan, and Sawyer; his sisters Sherry and Sandra of La Plata, Maryland. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 46 years, Sue Solesbee Kusterer; his brothers Russell, Allen, and George Knodle; and his sister Carol Osborne.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM in Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Andy Cloer officiating.
