Mr. Lonnie "Ray" Rogers, 76, of Franklin, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024, surrounded by his family. Ray was born January 18, 1948, in Macon, Co. to the late Harley Rogers and Hazel Louise Buchanan Rogers. He was a lifelong resident of Macon, Co.
Ray worked in construction for many years then for Macon County at the Carpenter Building. Ray was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. Ray loved artwork by drawing and painting. He also loved to fish and spend time with family. He was also a member of Newman Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lynne Conley Rogers of Franklin, a son, Kenneth Rogers and his wife, Deborah of Cullowhee; two sisters, Jeanette Taylor of Otto, NC and Judy Estes (Garry) of Franklin; three brothers, Calvin Rogers of Franklin, Randall Rogers (Donna) of Lakemont, GA; and Jerry Rogers (Diane) of Franklin; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Newman Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Ledford officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Wright Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home.
