Matthew "Matt" Williams Obituary

Matthew Thomas Williams, February 14, 1956 – October 1, 2019

Retired to Franklin, NC from Chicago, Illinois in 2017. Matthew quickly established himself as “Local Color”.  The Lovable Curmudgeon was noted for his grumpy attitude and his quick-witted pessimism.

Longtime Production Coordinator in the Commercial Printing Industry in Chicago.  Worked for a number of the top Commercial Printers in the Chicagoland area, only one of which is still in operation.

Condominium Board Member and Past President of the Bel-Harbour Condominium Association.  Which also no longer exists.

Officer for many years and Past President of the Lakeview Men’s Club, which is still in existence.  He didn’t kill every organization he was associated with.

Former member of the Chicago Yacht Club, he crewed on the sloop “Kutty’s Ark” in countless regattas on Lake Michigan.  Matt was abroad for over a decade including the year the Yacht won First in Class and First Overall in the legendary annual “Chicago to Mackinac” race in 2005.

Thirty three year resident of the Lakeview East Neighborhood, and Announcer for many years at Monsignor Murphy’s Sport’s Bar for the neighborhood’s annual Pride Parade. He was respectful of all the Parade Entrants except for the Politicians.  “He was brutal” according to Alderman Tom Tunney.

He is survived by his Brother, JD, and Sister in Law, Ricki of Rock Hill, SC and two nephews John of Winston Salem, NC and Mark of Centreville, Va.

In lieu of flowers, do a shot and have your car washed.
