Roberta DeCora (Talley) Barnes

Mrs. Roberta DeCora Talley Barnes, 74, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023.

Roberta was born June 6, 1949, in Rabun Co. Ga to the late Lyman Elmer Talley and Minnie Carver Talley. Roberta lived and worked for many years in Florida and Wisconsin as a Beekeeper, she also worked for the Figis Candy Company in Wisconsin. She was a graduate of the Tamassee DAR School. She loved to read, hike, and watch birds.  Roberta loved her family, caring and doing for others. She was also of the Baptist faith. 

Survivors include her four daughters, DeCora Ann Jakobi (Scott), Chili WI., Deborah Alaine Drinka (Austin Bradt) of Loyal, WI., Deloris Arlene Barnes of Highlands, NC., and Doris Amelia Barnes of Marshville, WI; 21 grandchildren; three sisters, Reba Webb, Rena Carver, and Rodean Wilson; and two brothers, Relton Talley and Rabun Talley.

  In addition to her parents Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Bennett Barnes, Jr.; and five siblings, Reveloyn Carver, Romonia Picklesimer, Ronald Talley, Russell Talley, and Randolph Talley.

  A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2023, at Buck Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Passmore and Rev. Zane Talley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Austin Bradt, Darrell Talley, Stacy Talley, Brian Talley, Richard Todd, and Brad Hambrick.
