Truman Roger Tippett, 72, of Franklin, NC, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018. He was born in Macon County, the son of the late Walter and Dessie Pickens Tippett. Mr. Tippett served in the US Army for ten years, serving in Vietnam for ten months; he lived in Germany over twenty years, and was an interpreter, he could speak, read, and write German very well. He also served in several places in the United States including Texas and FL. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of Cowee Baptist Church and a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife, Petra Tippett, daughters, Susanna Theobald (Michael) and Bethina Stoll (Patrick); three grandchildren, Jessica, Steffie Theobald and Louisa Stoll; sisters, Betty Duvall and Thelma Sanders (Ralph). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Tippett, Aubrey Tippett and Roy Tippett.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Fouts and Rev. Jason Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cowee Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Duvall, Eric Duvall, Steve Sanders, Brian Tippett, Thomas Tippett, and David Tippett. Honorary pallbearer will be Norris Clouse. The Franklin VFW Post # 7339 , American Legion Post 108 and Vietnam Veterans of America will conduct military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
