James Gregory Ches, 76, of Franklin passed away Friday, December 1, 2017. He was born July 20, 1941 in Baltimore, MD to the late Albert and Elsie Hartwick Ches.

Mr. Ches was in the home painting and repair business and was the former owner of The Sports Page, and Rescue Treasure Antique Shop. He loved watching baseball and football and supporting the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. He loved to visit his hometown of Baltimore, MD and going to Florida to take family and friends on the history tour. Mr. Ches was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Shirley Fredrickson Ches; six children and step‑children, each loved as his own, Kevin (Bucky) Tarr, Janie Spurrier (Michael), Coby Tarr, Susan Wright (George), Michael Sanderlin (Sarahi) and Jonas Ches; six grandchildren, Kelly Tarr Wright, Nicholas Stamathis, Cameron Burke, Chad Wright, Riley Stamathis and Michael Sanderlin, Jr.; two great-grandsons, Cooper and Cannon Wright; sister, Elizabeth Genco; niece, Valerie Burke (William) and nephews, Stephen Michael and David Genco.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
