I realize December 23--the night before Christmas Eve--is a long time from last June. But I just discovered tonight that our dear Rosalie had died. I had sent her a birthday card, earlier this month, and it came back yesterday, saying that there was no such address. I did not believe that, but realized that at 95 years of age, I'd better find out. So I went to the Franklin Press website, and found her beautiful obituary and memory book and wept. I loved Rosalie. I first met her in the late 50's when my family had a cabin built by Virgil up in the Nantahala National Forest. Through the years I would keep in touch, and in recent years, would always go by her sweet river house whenever I was up in the mountains, once a year. Of course, in the early years, my mother and I would go together and check out the treasures in the "Antique" store attached. This year I did not make it. I loved our visits. We talked about talked about anything and everything--cats, flowers, birds, family members and what they were up to, health, and even politics. She was always so clear about who she was--no pretense and no excuses: just me! I loved that about her. I will miss her, even though we did not see each other often, and even though, at 95, I must say she had a good long life. How she loved you family members whom she left behind, I know I mourn for myself, because she has no reason to regret anything about her life, and every reason to celebrate at the Divine Banquet. May she and all who loved her be blessed, as she blessed me! With love, Greta

Thank you so much for sharing the lovely photos of your mother and family. I'll always remember her strong, quiet and smiling support. Heaven is richer for having her there, though her spirit will always be with you, and us.

I will miss you poking me with your cane trying to teach me the difference between a weed and a flower. And the sandwiches you always put pickles on. And your sweet smile

My condolences to the Watkins family. You are not alone during this time of great loss. The one who gave life to all living creatures is certainly capable of restoring life to someone who has died. God has resurrected humans in the past on earth through his son Jesus Christ and he is eager to do it again. John 11:29-44. He even refers to death an enemy, 1 Corinthians 15:26. So take comfort in these scripture, for you are not alone in mourning the loss of your dear loved one .
