Speaking for the Thomas family, our mother Genet Mallonee Thomas was niece to Zeb Cansler, and she and Bill were first cousins. Our families visited often and I always looked up to cousin Bill with great respect because he taught me to make good slingshots and other essential boyhood crafts. It was a matter of much pride to me in elementary school to remark that my cousins Bill and Lewis were in military service. Bill was the same knowledgeable, generous, witty, thoughtful person from the time I first knew him until the last, this spring when he pushed himself to guide our family through the Macon County territories of the Canslers and Mallonees.
Our hearts and blessings go out to the descendants of Bill.

My Dear Cansler Family,

We are so grieved by the loss of sweet Uncle Bill. He became a second grandfather to me after Gepaw passed away, and it was always a joy to pay him a visit when I came to town. I'll never forget the look of pure joy and love he had for Molly when he held her for the first time. It is bittersweet to watch one generation go as another comes to life, but God gives us grace to enjoy the times we have together.

What a life well lived, and a joy to
know that Uncle Bill is resting at the right hand of his Savior. His work is now done as well.

We wish we could be there in person this weekend, but are unable to get away again. We will treasure our sweet final moments with Uncle Bill from a few days ago, and send you hugs and warmth from KY.

Lots of Love and Comfort,
Amanda, John Michael, and Molly
