Dear Lynn and family,
I was so saddened to learn of Ralph's passing when I visited the Stone Lantern in late June. He had just set a beautiful black/fire opal ring for me last year. He was such a delightful person. I will miss seeing him every year. You may remember me..., I am Ellen Wideman Patton's niece, Jennie. In 1972, you and Ralph, through Ellen, gave me little "Maggie", the little black Lhasa/Poo who lived to be 16.
My condolences and sympathy to you, Lynn, and to the rest of Ralph's family.
What a gentle man he was. Jennie

Dear Ones/Beloved Family- There are no words to express my gratitude to the brilliant, funny, shall we say "bawdy", creative, generous, and inspiring man who taught me so much, And not just about art, but about life, love, laughter, the value of friendship, hard work, and commitment to excellence. Dear Lynn and Family Members

Ralph was a fine gentleman and a successful and resourceful business man. He had a unique business that enticed many to look forward to entering his lovely Stone Lantern store in the Spring to see what new items he had acquired during his shopping in the winter. Always goodies for every age! He was always welcoming and wanted to take time with his customer friends.

He will be missed and remembered fondly by many.

Dear John and DeVille family,

We are so sorry to hear of your father's passing. He was a true artist who shared his love of beauty with so many people who were lucky enough to wander into the Stone Lantern. His positive impact will be missed by the town of Highlands and by all whose lives he touched.

My wife, Megan, and I loved talking with Ralph every time we drove up to Highlands from Pendleton. He was a brilliant and genuinely sweet man. I know you all will miss him and think of him often. Do know that there are many other people who respected and thought very highly of him. Our thoughts are with you.

My Deepest Sympathy to you all, for Ralph was a great man of high esteem. He was always kind and polite to me, and introduced me to Ikebana, as a young girl in the 1970's . I have grown to love and practice this elegant art because of Ralph! He will be remembered well and missed, heaven has an angel!

I have been very close to the DeVille family for much of my life through my friendship with his parents and both brothers. We enjoyed visiting with Ralph at his shop during the time we owned a home in Highlands. He was always happy to spend a few moments catching up even though the shop was full and he was in great demand. Our deepest sympathy to your family on the loss of an exceptional man. He will be remembered.
